CUPCAKE CAMP Conejo Valley - welcome...
Created by 13 yr Blakely Colvin in the fall '07
Blake's vision began with the desire to
help a fellow eighth grader who had just
been diagnosed with Leukemia. Her inspiration came from her love of cupcakes-eating them, baking them, drawing them (even her dog is named Cupcake) and her desire to make a difference in the life a child battling cancer. The icing on the (cup)CAKE is Blake is a chemo survivor herself & knows first hand how long and hard that road to recovery is.

Blake's plan was simple- bake and sell homemade cupcakes for $1 after school and at other local events to raise funds towards Kevin's treatment. Not only did Blake & her cupcake crew raise $5,000 in 6 weeks, during the onset of her endeavor, but she succeeded in infecting her hometown with Cupcake Fever. Blake did not stop there! Now a nationally recognized
non-profit, Cupcakes for Cancer continues to raise funds for The Teddy Bear Cancer of Santa Barbara,
Make-a-Wish of the Tri-Counties, and The Band of Parents of New York- a national pediatric cancer research foundation. In the past 4 years, Blake, with the help of her family and friends, has raised an amazing $100,000, granted 9 wishes for ill children for Make A Wish of the Tri-counties, and has designed a national outreach dubbed
"Frosting Hope Across America"-inspiring others to host cupcake sales and donate too! All funds raised by these out of state Cupcake Angels are donated to pediatric cancer research.
Blake received the 2008 Spirit Award from the Santa Barbara Board of Ed. She received the 2009 Chris Greisius Society of Joy Award from The Make-a-Wish Foundation of America and the 2010 Soroptimist International of Santa Barbara-Violet Richardson Award at both the local and regional levels.
January of 2011 Blake was invited to appear on NBC's The NATE BERKUS Show in New York to share her inspirational story! Spring 2011 Blake was selected as the Top State Honoree for California for the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards 2011-honored in D.C.! 2012 she was selected by Coca Cola for the Coca Cola Scholarship-presented in Alanta and by Build a Bear Workshop, as one of the twelve kids selected in the US for the Huggable Hero Award-honored in St Luis Missouri. The  Spring of 2010-2011-2012, Blake selected  graduating seniors, from her own high school, to receive $1,000 college scholarship's from Cupcakes for Cancer. While in high school, Blake was involved in bible study, and participated in Varsity golf, track & cross country teams. Her goal was to donate $100,000 before she graduated high school 2012 & to have at least one Cupcake Angel from each of our 50 states! She now even has a family of Cupcake Angels in South Africa!! Blake now 18, is currently a freshmen in college majoring in Business Entrepreneur- ship so she can continue her non-profit as a professional!
